CARTER NORMANLY is a writer & director from North Carolina currently based in Winston-Salem, NC.
He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) with a concentration in Film Directing and Producing. While attending, he created multiple films including Gold, Charlie Girl, and Proof.
His narrative work is often defined by moments of silent reflection in the midst of chaos, as well as a careful analysis of family dynamics. He draws on his own upbringing and shared experiences to connect with audiences.
He first got involved with film while watching his parents work at a local television station. Days after school were spent in edit suites or on location.
When he’s not working, Carter is either watching the Carolina Hurricanes, playing Everdell, or listening to bluegrass. Sometimes all three at once.
